Why we made Lumuras

There are so many places in a room where you’d put a light, if only it weren’t for the socket. Why not by the reading chair in the corner of the room? On the shelf across the room? In the middle of the dining table? On the wall opposite the bed?

We offer freestanding lighting. Freestanding lighting is also known as cordless lighting or independent lighting. Cordless reading lamps, rechargeable table lamps, and plug-free wall lights that can be mounted by yourself within minutes without the need for an electrician are just some examples of the freestanding lighting we supply. We love freestanding lighting because it provides users with beautiful lighting and the freedom to place it wherever they like. And then move it.

What we believe

Our mission. To bring you considered, beautiful lighting that is easy to choose, easy to use and to love. We don’t believe that good design has to compromise on sustainability or be cluttered with cables.

Our vision. To create a world where every spot in your home can be lit up in a warm and cosy manner, and your walls can be adorned with soft warm lighting just as you would paint the walls or furnish a room.

Evening hours are best lit with warm light, which can make a room feel so calm and relaxed. Our lighting offers the warm glow of a low sun on a long evening — in contrast to the usual cold, harsh light of overhead bulbs that can make a room feel sterile. Our lamps bring your home to life, and help to bring it in tune with your natural rhythms.

Made to last

Sustainable design does not have to mean compromising on style. We believe that good design should have a light footprint, and we choose rechargeable products with the aim of reducing the number of disposable batteries that end up in landfill. In addition to this, our products are energy efficient, using up a fraction of the energy of traditional lighting products, in the form of warm, cool or daylight white light. The modern LED light sources we choose deliver high-quality light for years to come.

We also believe that when you buy a product you should keep it for as long as possible, and therefore we only look for the best quality pieces that will be great to live with, be easily moved around and can be reused over time. This means that rather than buying lots of cheap products which will be thrown away within a short space of time, you will have a few well-made products which will last for years to come.
